Effects of Integrated Arts Psychotherapy using Food Art and Play on Improvement of Self-Efficacy and Interpersonal Relationship of Adults with Intellectual Disabilities

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of Integrative Arts Psychotherapy Program using Food Art and Play on the improvement of self-efficacy and interpersonal relationship of adults with intellectual disabilities. The subjects of this study were five adults with intellectual disabilities who were living in a residential center in G metropolitan city. A total of 10 sessions of integrated art psychotherapy program using food art and play were applied to the experimental group for 90 minutes once a week.
Self-efficacy and interpersonal relationship scale were used to measure before and after the program, and Wilcoxon signed rank test was used to verify the pre-post effect. In addition, the self-efficacy and interpersonal relationship changes of adults with intellectual disabilities were examined based on observation journals and works written for each session. As a result, the integrated art psychotherapy program using food art and play was found to have a positive effect on improving self-efficacy and interpersonal relationship of adults with intellectual disabilities. Therefore, it is necessary to continuously conduct research to develop and apply an integrated art psychotherapy program that combines play and food art that can be easily utilized by the disabled to change their self-efficacy and interpersonal relationships.
